Attendees to the National World War II Museum had the rare opportunity to witness two premier military bands perform together at the museum's Boeing Center April 23.

The Commander Navy Region Southeast Band performed jointly with the Marine Forces Reserve Band in support of Navy Week New Orleans, a celebration that gives the citizens of New Orleans the opportunity to meet and interact with Sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen.

"This is my first time to do a joint concert with the Navy Band," said Chief Warrant Officer 2 Demarius Jackson, the Marine Forces Reserve Band director. "It's definitely been an honor. We kind of rekindled that friendship and cooperation and spread the word through music."

Both bands have played a wide array of performances throughout the week and have enjoyed interacting with the public as well as exploring New Orleans' rich culture.

"Everything has been fantastic," said Lt. Luslaida Barboso, the CNRSE Band director. "The people have been so warm. Everywhere we've gone the people have been fantastic."

Altogether, both bands have either separately or jointly played 14 concerts throughout Navy Week New Orleans, which lasts April 19-25. These performances ranged from public performances to performances in support of key leadership engagements.

The CNRSE Band consists of highly-trained professional musicians who routinely play a variety of musical settings, including military ceremonies, public concerts, parades and much more.

The United States Navy band is the premier musical organization of the U.S. Navy. Since its inception in 1925, the Navy Band has been entertaining audiences and supporting the Navy with some of the best musicians in the country.
