The guided-missile destroyer USS Farragut (DDG 99) arrived in Her Majesty's Naval Base Clyde, May 21, for a scheduled port visit to strengthen U.S. and United Kingdom relations as the two nations work in partnership to fortify security and stability in the region.

"This is a great chance for Farragut to visit a NATO partner and take in the rich history Scotland has to offer," said Cmdr. Casey Baker, Farragut commanding officer. "The crew is looking forward to visiting Glasgow and Edinburgh while the ship takes on much needed supplies. The ongoing support the Royal Navy provides to visiting U.S. Navy deployers is exemplary."

While in port, transportation will be provided by the ship to allow Sailors to travel to the town of Helensburgh. The ship's Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) department will also be providing transportation to Edinburgh for Sailors who wish to travel farther to see the sights of Scotland's capital.

"MWR has offered opportunities that I would have not been able to achieve otherwise," said Cryptologic Technician (Technical) 2nd Class Philip McGee, a MWR member. "Being able to see castles and monuments in foreign countries are the moments I look forward to while on deployment."

Farragut is currently deployed as part of the Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group. With USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) as the flagship, deployed strike group units include staffs, ships and aircraft of Carrier Strike Group Eight (CSG 8), Destroyer Squadron Two Eight (DESRON 28) and Carrier Air Wing One (CVW-1); as well as Sachsen-class German Frigate FGS Hessen (F221).
