Quarter Master (QM) 1st Class Christopher Eley, Training Support Center Hampton Roads (TSCHR) Command Development Team was named the second quarter Sailor of the Quarter (SOQ) at an all-hands ceremony, May 24, Naval Air Station Oceana Dam Neck Annex.

A seven-year Navy veteran, Eley tends to stand out wherever he goes. Prior to reporting to TSCHR, Eley was named USS Bulkeley (DDG 84) Junior Sailor of the Year. This is Eley's 2nd TSCHR SOQ award.

As Career Counselor (CC), Eley processed over 20 reclassifications, 60 Career Waypoint applications for staff and students and completed 20 reenlistments including Selective Reenlistment Bonus submissions with an approximated aggregate net value of 75,000. He is also the Leading Petty Officer for the Coalition of Sailors Against Destructive Decisions dedicating countless hours in planning command events. Additionally, he assisted in conducting four petty officer indoctrination courses for students located at the Dam Neck Learning Site.

"My favorite part of the job as a Career Counselor, is being able to help and assist Sailors that come to our office daily, said Eley." Education and personal physical fitness are extremely important to me as I believe they allow us to continually grow mentally and physically so we can be the best version of ourselves."

Originally from Buffalo, New York, Eley attributes much of his success to his parents. "My role models are my parents because they've instilled an excellent work ethic in me and continued to provide guidance as I grew up and molded me," said Eley.

"While the competition is stringent, QM1 Eley is an ideal command representative he's set the example for other Sailors to follow. The level of competition we have here at TSCHR doesn't allow for a person to just do a good job, they have to be the 'best of the best' to be selected," said CMDCM Keith Webb.
