Center for Information Warfare Training (CIWT) Det. Fort Gordon Sailors provided much-needed assistance to the food bank at Concerned Women Inc., June 5.

The mission of Concerned Women Inc. is to make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate in the Central Savanna River area. Concerned Women Inc. provides food to those in need by distributing donations from larger local food banks, private donations, and the United States Department of Agriculture.

Eight CIWT Det. Fort Gordon White Hats Association Sailors gathered to unload 14 pallets containing approximately 3,500 pounds of food that were donated form the Faith Food Factory. Over the course of two hours the Sailors worked in concert with local Youth Challenge Cadets to unload and store the food.

The event was organized by Electronics Technician 1st Class Tyrone Craig, an active member of the association and a regular volunteer for Concerned Women Inc.

"It's a great time and it's for a great cause!" Craig said "I'm glad to be able to help out the local community."

Concerned Women Inc.'s Executive Director Bea Sanders thanked the Sailors for their help because they really sped up the process of unloading and really eased the burden of getting the food inside and properly stored until it can be handed out over the coming days.

The CIWT Det. Fort Gordon White Hats Association is comprised of E6 and below staff members and is focused on community involvement and command morale events.
