Cmdr. Errol Laumann relieved Cmdr. Kelly Robbins as commanding officer of Information Warfare Training Command (IWTC) San Diego during a change of command ceremony at the Admiral Kidd Catering and Conference Center in Point Loma, California, June 21.

Capt. Maureen Fox, who commanded the Center for Information Warfare Training (CIWT) from September 2014 to May 2016 - known then as the Center for Information Dominance - served as the guest speaker for the event. Capt. Nick Andrews, commanding officer of CIWT, presided over the ceremony and praised Robbins on his tour.

"Skipper Robbins demonstrated strategic vision and decisive leadership as he expertly focused on evolving fleet requirements and cultivated relationships across the information warfare community to ensure his team consistently delivered the highest quality, and operationally-relevant training," said Andrews. "Great job and well done to you and your entire team!"

During his tenure with IWTC San Diego, Robbins led 215 military and civilian staff members working at 10 geographically separated sites across the Pacific. Under his leadership, the command successfully trained more than 12,000 students in 59 different courses of instruction. These achievements were recognized with Robbins receiving the Meritorious Service Medal.

"This has been the most rewarding tour of my career," said Robbins. "I have had the privilege of leading a supremely talented group of men and women who will shape the future of the Navy's information warfare community. I cannot wait to witness the milestones that they and their students go on to achieve."

Robbins' next assignment is to the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) where he'll serve as the ship's intelligence officer.

Laumann, a native of New Hampshire, most recently served as the assistant chief of staff for intelligence and cryptology for Carrier Strike Group 3.

"In a complex strategic environment, Cmdr. Robbins' outstanding leadership has advanced IWTC San Diego as the premier training command for information warfare following the [chief of naval operation's] vision of high-velocity training," said Laumann. "IWTC San Diego provides trained and ready personnel to the fleet and I look forward to continuing that work and leading this exceptional team."

IWTC San Diego, as part of the Center for Information Warfare Training, provides a continuum of training to Navy and joint service personnel that prepares them to conduct information warfare across the full spectrum of military operations.
