Capt. Adam Lyons relieved Capt. William E. Chase III as Commander, Task Force 1010 (CTF1010) and Commanding Officer, Naval Network Warfare Command (NETWARCOM) Aug. 17.

Vice Adm. Michael Gilday, Commander, U.S. Fleet Cyber Command, and Commander, U.S. 10th Fleet, presided over the change of command ceremony held at the command's headquarters on the DoD Complex in Suffolk, Virginia.

Chase assumed command of CTF 1010 and NETWARCOM Nov. 19, 2015. He was awarded the Legion of Merit in recognition of his many achievements while in command, including the Navy's first large scale network maneuver of Fleet services, bolstering the Navy's information network security and resiliency. Chase's next assignment will be as Chief of Staff, Naval Information Forces, also located in Suffolk, Virginia.

Lyons most recently served as Director, Defensive Cyber Operations, Department of Defense Information Network Operations; Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations Officer; and Deputy Maritime Operations Center Director for U.S. Fleet Cyber Command.

Lyons graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1994 and is a plank owner in the Information Professional Community, being among the first group of Naval Officers to establish the community.

NAVNETWARCOM was established July 11, 2002 and directs, operates, maintains, and secures the Navy's networks and communications and leverages Joint Space capabilities for Navy and Joint operations. Task Force 1010 was established in April 2015 to tactically command and control the Navy's computer and telecommunications stations globally.
