Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) Adm. John Richardson and Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy (MCPON) Stephen Giordano visited with Sailors from Navy Personnel Command and Navy Recruiting Command, Aug. 23.

"MCPON and I have spent a lot of time here," said Richardson. "The most important thing is people and that all happens here."

The CNO and MCPON were briefed by Chief of Naval Personnel Vice Adm. Robert P. Burke and Commander, Navy Personnel Command Rear Adm. Richard Brown about the Navy's Manpower, Personnel, Training and Education transformation efforts and Billet Based Distribution.

"So much happens here in Millington. Having an opportunity to talk to the Sailors who are responsible for distribution, selection boards and transforming the future of Navy Personnel is a good thing," said Richardson.

The CNO and MCPON also took an opportunity to congratulate senior chiefs assigned to Navy Personnel Command who had just learned they have been selected for master chief.

To cap off the visit, Richardson and Giordano conducted an all-hands call at the Pat Thompson Theater, which focused on global events, building partnerships, humanitarian efforts and keeping the sea lanes free.

"To meet these obligations we need more power, ships, training and people," said Richardson.
