USS Porter Arrives in Constanta

The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Porter (DDG 78) arrived in Constanta, Romania, Aug. 22,for a scheduled port visit.
The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Porter (DDG 78) arrived in Constanta, Romania, Aug. 22,for a scheduled port visit.

The visit served to strengthen alliances and demonstrate the commitment the United States has to promote security and stability within the region, while seeking opportunities to enhance interoperability with our NATO allies and partners in the Black Sea.

Quick Facts:

* Tobin is scheduled to meet with Romanian fleet officials while in port.

* Porter entered the Black Sea to demonstrate the U.S. commitment to the collective defense of our NATO allies and partners. All Department of Defense efforts in support of our NATO allies in Eastern Europe fall under Operation Atlantic Resolve.

* The U.S. Navy routinely operates in the Black Sea consistent with the Montreux Convention and international law.

* The ship's operations in the Black Sea are meant to enhance maritime security and stability, readiness, and naval capability and capacity among our allies and partners.
