Rear Adm. Marcus A. Hitchcock took command of Navy Warfare Development Command in a brief ceremony on Sept. 18.

NWDC's staff of military personnel, Department of the Navy Civilians, and contractors witnessed the transfer of authority to their new commander in NWDC's Navy Center for Advanced Modeling and Simulation facility.

Hitchcock reported to NWDC following his command of Carrier Strike Group 3 and USS John C. Stennis Carrier Strike Group.

"I'm delighted to join the NWDC team!" Hitchcock said. "This command, working together with its Fleet partners, is entrusted with developing solutions to the warfighting challenges our Navy and Marine Corps operators face today and into the future."

NWDC synchronizes its efforts in concept generation and development, doctrine development, wargaming, and fleet experimentation to solve military problems and seize opportunities presented by new technologies and changes in operating environments.
