Call Me ... Upgraded: NSGB NEX Unveils New Mobile Center

The Naval Station Guantanamo Bay (NSGB) Navy Exchange (NEX) held a ribbon cutting ceremony for its new Mobile Center kiosk, Nov. 19.

The new Mobile Center kiosk allows for cellular phone displays, including interactive devices and an expanded assortment of accessories, in a professional atmosphere. Kiosk staff may also assist with the sale of other merchandise that interacts with the mobile device such as Bluetooth speakers and smart home devices.

The Mobile Center is manned by Wireless Advocates staff. Those manning the kiosk are authorized to wear T-Mobile attire, as that is the only cell phone service currently available at the remote installation.

The kiosk operates on the same hours as the Navy Exchange, which are generally 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.

This Mobile Center kiosk acts as a major upgrade to the makeshift mobile center that has been located in the NEX gift shop since NSGB first obtained personal cell phone service capabilities in October 2016.

While the Mobile Center is now located inside the main NEX, it is still a partnership with Wireless Advocates.

"In our other 25 continental United States (CONUS) locations, our cellular shops are branded as NEX Mobile Centers," said Kim Phillips, Operations & Marketing, Navy Exchange Command (NEXCOM) Telecommunications Program Office. "We now bring that professional look to our valued customers at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay."

The Mobile Center offers a variety of smartphones, accessories and mobile hotspots with service on T-Mobile's network that can be purchased outright or on a monthly device payment plan. They carry a wide range of Apple and Android devices from the 150 dollar Samsung J3 up to the iPhone 8 and Samsung Note 8 to fit customer connectivity needs and budget.

It is important to note that all monthly bills must be paid online and that Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) compatibility should be verified at the Mobile Center with a staff member.

"Wireless Advocates has a passion for technology and dedication for serving those who serve our country," said Phillips. "The team supporting the Mobile Center will continue to look for ways to enhance assortment and customer satisfaction in the coming months."

Phillips recommends that all customers visit the kiosk for a periodic account check-up, a complimentary account review to ensure they are on the best T-Mobile plan. Customers can also find out if they qualify for an upgrade, a better rate plan, the Netflix promotion, or a military discount at the Mobile Center as well.
