Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit (CNATTU) Norfolk announced its 2017 Sailors and Instructors of the Year in September.

The Sailors recognized include Aviation Electronics Technician 1st Class Brian Stahl as the command's Sailor of the Year (SOY); Aviation Machinist's Mate 2nd Class Shadoe Treadway w as junior (SOY);Chief Aviation Structural Mechanic James Webb as senior Instructor of the Year (IOY); Aviation Machinist's Mate 1st Class Lloyd Cleckley as mid-grade IOY and Center Naval Aviation Technical Training (CNATT) IOY; and Aviation Electronics Technician 2nd Class Robin Stephens as junior IOY.

Stahl is the Instructional Systems Development leading petty officer and course curriculum model manager (CCMM) for the E-2C HE2KHawkeye avionics initial course. He also served as the petty officer association president and CPO365 phase one coordinator.

"Instructor duty has been an amazing experience," said Stahl. "Developing curriculum that will be used to train future Sailors in the E-2 community has been one of the greatest achievements in my 17 years."

Webb serves as the aviation maintenance administration management training unit division officer and maintenance control for organization maintenance activities CCMM. He also serves as the command managed equal opportunity manager and Chiefs Mess secretary.

"I could not pass on the opportunity to return to the CNATT domain for a second instructor tour and work alongside some of the finest professionals the aviation community has to offer," said Webb. "The ability to impart some of the knowledge I learned throughout my experiences is reward enough. If you desire a challenging, career-enhancing, and sometimes exhausting tour, there is no job better than being an instructor."

Treadway serves as the CCMM for the MH-53 Sea Dragon power plant course and course supervisor for both the initial and career H-60 Sea Hawk power plant courses.

Stephens is the CCMM for the E-2C Hawkeye search radar course and assistant testing officer. She was also the recipient of the 2017 American Legion Spirit of Service Award for the Navy.

"Being an instructor here at CNATTU Norfolk has been an extremely rewarding experience," said Stephens. "It's such an honor to be a part of the learning process that enables great Sailors to go out and claim their place in our Navy."

CNATTU Norfolk is a training unit of CNATT located at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida. CNATT develops, delivers and supports aviation technical training at 28 sites located throughout the continental United States and Japan.

CNATT is a training center under Naval Education and Training Command and is a technical training agent for the Naval Aviation Enterprise, an organization designed to advance and sustain naval aviation warfighting capabilities at an affordable cost.
