Fifteen Sailors assigned to Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola were advanced to their next rank during a frocking ceremony held onboard the base in Bldg. 1504 on Dec. 1.

NAS Pensacola Commanding Officer, Capt. Christopher Martin reminded every newly frocked petty officer that with this promotion comes added responsibility. "This is a huge day for you all," said Martin. "The bar is now set higher and more will be expected from you."

While the newly frocked petty officers will wear the rank of the next higher pay grade, they will not receive their pay raise until officially promoted, which occurs in three increments a year.

There were thirteen Sailors in attendance to be frocked. The most senior of the group, Air Traffic Controlman 1st Class Michael Aguilera, from Harlingen, Texas, credited his advancement to hard work and the continued support of his family and shipmates. "I am super excited because this has been a long time coming." Aguilera said. "This promotion still doesn't feel real and I couldn't have made it to this point if it wasn't for my wife."

Sailors were eager to perform the additional tasks that come with advancing in rank and also provided some insight on where they aspire to be in the future of their careers. "My goal is to achieve more qualifications but also to give back to the Navy community that has done so much for me." said Air Traffic Controlman 3rd Class Candace Hall from Denver, Colorado "I would love to become more involved with community events and volunteering with this added responsibility."
