Naval Hospital Jacksonville will host a Diabetes Symposium on Wednesday, Jan. 10, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the hospital's 2nd deck conference room, near the hospital's chapel. All are invited to attend, and especially people with diabetes, prediabetes, or a family member with diabetes or prediabetes.

Diabetes, a chronic disease that affects how the body turns food into energy, is the seventh leading cause of death in the U.S. More than 100 million Americans are living with diabetes or prediabetes. One in four people with diabetes (and 90 percent of people with prediabetes) don't know they have it.

Come out and hear from NH Jacksonville's commanding officer, as well as a diabetes nurse, a dietitian, a clinical pharmacist, a case manager, and a physician as they talk about diabetes, how to prevent it, and how to manage it. The Fitness Center, Wellness Center and Nutrition Clinic will be on hand with resources.

No RSVP required. For more information call 904-542-5292.
