Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit (CNATTU) Keesler recognized the organization's top Marine during a ceremony with Keesler Air Force Base's Marine Detachment (MARDET), Dec. 18, onboard Keesler Air Force Base.

CNATTU Keesler Commanding Officer Cmdr. Timothy Knapp recognized Sgt. Jacob Nixon as the CNATTU Keesler Marine of the Year.

Nixon, a Logan, Ohio, native, is an instructor at the General Purpose Electronic Test Equipment Calibration and Maintenance Technician School.

"I give all my effort to making the Marines and Sailors here at Keesler the very best they can be as individuals and service members," said Nixon. "It is very rewarding to watch their transformation and be a part of it."

In addition to being an electronic meter calibration instructor, Nixon serves as the CNATTU Keesler testing officer and as an instructor evaluator. Also, he is the Individual Material Readiness List manager; the MARDET Keesler Sexual Assault Prevention Representative; and was a driving force behind the 2017 Marine Corps Ball fundraising campaign.

"Sgt. Nixon is a great example for our Sailors and Marines to follow," said Knapp. "He's done a lot of great work at CNATTU Keesler this year, and it was a pleasure to present him his award in front of the MARDET Keesler Marines."

CNATTU Keesler is a training unit of the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training (CNATT) located at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida. CNATT develops, delivers, and supports aviation technical training at 27 sites located throughout the continental United States and Japan.

CNATT is the largest training center under the Naval Education and Training Command, and is a technical training agent for the Naval Aviation Enterprise, an organization designed to advance and sustain naval aviation warfighting capabilities at an affordable cost.
