Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Headquarters hosted the U.S. Fleet Forces Destructive Behavior Workshop for Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month for military and civilian personnel April 18.

The keynote speaker was Eric Hipple, former NFL Quarterback and representative of the University of Michigan Depression Center. This year's theme was "Protecting Our People, Protects our Mission." The workshop was broken into two sessions.

Rear Adm. Yuen stated, "Our goal for the two sessions is to institutionalize a culture of prevention through education, training, response capability, victim support, reporting procedures and accountability that enhance the safety and well-being of all."

The morning session provided opportunities to learn the latest destructive behavior prevention strategies, how to tailor local training programs to meet mission need, and how to model positive behaviors to deliver an effective prevention program for all military and civilian supervisors of military.

The afternoon session was an all-Hands event featuring Ray Leonard Jr., motivational speaker and son of champion boxer Sugar Ray Leonard.

Ray Leonard Jr. shared what life was like living with a legend, describing his family as the strong, silent type. It's because of his father's behaviors behind closed doors that he is now speaking out against domestic violence, suicide prevention, and substance abuse "Being strong is not about being silent. Break the cycle, get up when knocked down, change your strategy!" Leonard encourages everyone to "speak up, take action - we are a sum of our actions, not inactions."
