NHCP Maintains Joint Commission Accreditation

Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton and its outlying medical clinics received the Joint Commission's Gold Seal of ApprovalTM for hospital accreditation May 1, 2017.
Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton and its outlying medical clinics received the Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval(TM) for hospital accreditation May 1, 2017.

The seal signifies that NHCP has met the requirements to receive full accreditation for another three years by demonstrating continuous compliance with the Joint Commission's performance standards.

"I'm extremely proud of our staff," said Capt. Maria Young, NHCP executive officer. "This certification reflects our continuous commitment to providing safe and effective patient care for our service members and their families."

To receive this acknowledgement, the hospital underwent an unannounced five-day, onsite survey process in February. During the review, a team of surveyors evaluated compliance with hospital standards related to several areas, including emergency management, environment of care, infection prevention and control, leadership, and medication management. Surveyors also conducted onsite observations and interviews.

The Joint Commission is an independent, not-for-profit organization, established more than 60 years ago. The organization accredits and certifies nearly 21,000 health care organizations and programs across the nation.
