Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Pacific Public Works Business Line (PWBL) celebrated National Public Works Week with an educational event, May 24, at its command headquarters on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam.

"Today's event provided us the opportunity to showcase the type of work we do, the various projects we have accomplished, and how we connect to the bigger Navy piece of the puzzle," said NAVFAC Pacific PWBL Manager Christopher Floro.

National Public Works Week is held May 21-27 and the 2017 theme is "Public Works Connects Us."

This year's event included eight informational booths; hands-on demonstrations, including an infrared camera display; a trivia question and answer session; pamphlets and brochures; and a presentation of NAVFAC Hawaii's low speed electric cargo van.

"In terms of all the things we do across all the product lines, across all of PWBL, whether it's from a NAVFAC military perspective or Public Works out in the private sector, we connect our Navy communities through infrastructure operation and management, utilities commodities provision, facilities sustainment, transportation, energy resiliency, and facilities support contracts," said Floro. "You name it and we embody this year's National Public Works Week theme of 'Public Works Connects Us.'"

NAVFAC Pacific PWBL consists of four product lines and two specialty branches that manage and support the Navy's sustainment of infrastructure, facility supports contracts, transportation operations and assets, and utilities and energy in the Pacific area of responsibility.

"We take great pride in what we do and continue to do on a daily basis in connecting and contributing Public Works products and services to NAVFAC, the Navy and the Marine Corps," said Floro.
