NAVFAC GeoReadiness Program Honored for Special Achievement in GIS

Naval Facilities Engineering Command's GeoReadiness Installation Geospatial Information and Services (IGI&S) program received the International Special Achievement in Geographical Information System (GIS) award at the annual Esri User Conference.
Naval Facilities Engineering Command's GeoReadiness Installation Geospatial Information and Services (IGI&S) program received the International Special Achievement in Geographical Information System (GIS) award at the annual Esri User Conference.

Founder and president of Esri, a global leader in spatial analytics, Jack Dangermond presented the award reserved for global organizations in recognition of their innovative use of GIS to collect data, extrapolate it, make informed decisions, and effect change.

Selected from more than 300,000 eligible candidates, the Navy GeoReadiness Enterprise program received the award for its innovative application of technology, data collection, geospatial information visualization, and leadership through GIS in the field of defense.

"The Special Achievement in Geographical Information System (SAG) award provides a great opportunity to showcase all the outstanding achievements of our users," said Dangermond. "The SAG award recognizes exemplary organizations implementing spatial analytics technology to change the world. Highlighting the good work of users, in industries ranging from commerce to government, benefits the entire GIS community, and that's very valuable."

NAVFAC's GeoReadiness Enterprise program provides products and services that meet the requirements defined by a diverse set of business lines and Commander, Navy Installations Command program areas.

"The U.S. Navy GeoReadiness Enterprise Program is honored to receive this award as it highlights our commitment to ensuring Navy shore readiness around the globe," said Darrell Robertson, GeoReadiness Enterprise program manager. "GeoReadiness provides installation and environment geospatial information and services that advance the Navy Shore Enterprise capabilities by providing authoritative data, products and services that improve situational awareness and strengthen leadership decision-making."
