NAVSUP FLC Jacksonville Announces Meritorious Advancement Program Selection

Naval Supply Systems Command Fleet Logistics Center (NAVSUP FLC) Jacksonville announced its meritorious advancement program (MAP) selection in a ceremony held at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Forth Worth, Texas, July 5.

Aviation Boatswain's Mate, Fuels 2nd Class Jan F. Ascona was meritoriously advanced to Petty Officer First Class at the ceremony.

MAP empowers command triads to advance top-performing Sailors outside of the Navy's traditional performance advancement system.

Of the 1,239 Navy-wide E-6 MAP quotas, NAVSUP FLC Jacksonville received one quota.

Ascona was selected as NAVSUP FLC Jacksonville's 2016 Sailor of the Year and is planning to apply for commissioning under the Limited Duty Officer program.

Originally from Miami, Ascona joined the Navy in 2009 and is the assistant contracting officer representative to the government-owned contractor operated fuel delivery program.

His collateral duties include site community service coordinator; assistant command fitness leader; local morale, welfare and recreation vice president; and vice president for the Joint Services E-5 association onboard Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth.

NAVSUP FLC Jacksonville, one of eight fleet logistics centers under NAVSUP Global Logistics Support (GLS), provides operational logistics, business and support services to fleet, shore and industrial commands of the Navy, Coast Guard, Military Sealift Command, and other joint and allied forces. Services include contracting, regional transportation, fuel, material management, household goods movement support, postal and consolidated mail, warehousing, global logistics and husbanding, hazardous material management, and integrated logistics support.

NAVSUP GLS provides global logistics for a global Navy. The organization is made up of approximately 6,300 military and civilian logistics professionals operating from 105 locations worldwide, providing an extensive array of integrated global logistics and contracting services to Navy, Marine Corps, joint operational units, and allied forces across all warfare enterprises.
