Fifteen Training Support Center (TSC) petty officers first class were selected for promotion to chief petty officer, according to a Navy message released Aug. 4.

"I am extremely happy to see the number of promotions at TSC," said Command Master Chief Randy Reid, command master chief for TSC. "It goes to show the importance the selection board places on the mission these Sailors at TSC perform and the outstanding caliber of staff we have shaping our Navy's future."

For petty officers first class, being selected as chief is a major goal in their careers.

"When the commanding officer [Capt. Mark Meskimen, commanding officer at TSC] walked in to congratulate me, it felt surreal," said Gas Turbine Systems Technician (Mechanical) 1st Class April Byun, staff at TSC. "I made sure to call my spouse and each of my mentors and thank them. I know I would not have come so far in my career without the guidance from them; they pushed me, challenged me, and most importantly, believed in me. I am nervous, but excited to see the future brings."
