Included in a list the Navy released, Aug. 4, of Sailors being advanced to chief petty officer, are 13 from Center for Surface Combat Systems Unit (CSCSU) at Great Lakes.

"It's a tremendous accomplishment for all the guys who got selected," said Cmdr. Scott Dancer, commanding officer of CSCSU Great Lakes. "Anchors are earned, not given. These Sailors have proven themselves as professionals and experts in their rates. They will continue to mentor the Navy's future."

For first class petty officers, being selected chief is a major goal in their careers.

"This was my second time up for advancement," said Interior Communications Electrician 1st Class Petty Officer John Wilbert, staff at CSCSU Great Lakes. "I was shocked and honored along with my other brothers and sisters at CSCSU who were selected. We are excited to take on the extra responsibility as chiefs and will be dedicated in our duties to advance the progression of our student Sailors at CSCSU."
