Sailors assigned to amphibious transport dock ship USS Green Bay (LPD 20) conducted anti-terrorism/force protection drills Jan. 8.

Green Bay's crew conducted several drills in preparation for the ship's upcoming anti-terrorism Afloat Training Group certification.

"This was a great opportunity to prepare for our upcoming qualification," said Lt. j.g. Alexander Grim, force protection officer aboard the ship. "Our Sailors did a great job, and I have total confidence in their ability to handle any situation that may arise."

The ship used this opportunity to keep its Sailors sharp and teach them new skills.

"These drills gave me a chance to practice all the skills I've learned," said Boatswain's Mate 3rd Class Kimber Alabastro, a security reaction force team member, "and I like being able to help train those Sailors who will replace me when I leave."

Green Bay, with embarked 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, is on a routine patrol operating in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region to enhance partnerships and be a ready-response force for any type of contingency.
