USS Hue City Arrives in Tallinn

Guided-missile cruiser USS Hue City (CG 66) arrived in Tallinn, Estonia, for a scheduled port visit to enhance U.S.-Estonia relations as the two nations work together for a stable, secure, and prosperous Baltic region and Europe, Feb. 22.

While in port, Hue City is scheduled to host distinguished military and civilian visitors for an on-board reception dinner. Hue City Sailors are scheduled to visit local schools as part of a community relations program (COMREL), as well as host shipboard tours to local students.

"Hue City looks forward to spending time in Estonia supporting our NATO ally," said Capt. Dan Gillen, Hue City's commanding officer. "It is essential that we continue to strengthen our working relationships with our allies. This visit also provides a chance for the crew to get out in Tallinn and experience Estonia."

Strengthening alliances during the port visit to Tallinn demonstrates the shared commitment to promote safety and stability within the region, while seeking opportunities to enhance the enduring relationship with allies like Estonia.

Following the port visit, Hue City will be continue to conduct maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. Navy's 5th and 6th Fleet areas of operation as part of the George H.W. Bush Carrier Strike Group (GHWBCSG).

GHWBCSG is comprised of the staff of CSG-2; aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77); the nine squadrons and staff of Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 8; Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 22 staff, guided-missile destroyers USS Laboon (DDG 58) and USS Truxtun (DDG 103), and Danish guided-missile frigate HDMS Peter Willemoes (F 362); and Mayport-based USS Philippine Sea (CG 58) and Hue City.
