Naval Station Norfolk selected the 1st Quarter Blue Jacket, Junior, and Senior Sailor of the Quarter winners for fiscal year 2017.

Boatswain's Mate 1st Class Damian Carrell, Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Handling) 2nd Class Marquavais Curney, Boatswain's Mate 3rd Class Deanna Morey, and Boatswain's Mate Seaman Haley Pool were named as Sailors of the Quarter for NAVSTA Norfolk.

"I am very thankful for the recognition of all my hard work by my command and leadership," said Pool.

These Sailors have displayed outstanding personal conduct and military bearing while performing superiorly and making great achievements, professionally and personally. Each department is only allowed to nominate one Sailor per category for Sailor of the Quarter.

"Winning Sailor of the Quarter is a huge pat on the back for me," Curney said. "Being named Sailor of the Quarter acknowledges me for all my behind-the-scenes work and the extra hours I invested going above and beyond as a Sailor, father, community member, and mentor."

In addition, a recognition letter was sent to their family stating, "By serving his/her country and the United States Navy during a time of great challenge and sacrifice, your family member has proven he/she a true Patriot whose achievements we all take pleasure in acknowledging."

NAVSTA Norfolk Command Master Chief Marc Puco oversees each Sailor of the Quarter board.

"I am very proud of these Sailors," said Puco. "They really exhibit pride and professionalism. They represent the Navy well and make great examples for others to follow."
