Training Support Center Hampton Roads Names Sailors of the Quarter

Training Support Center Hampton Roads (TSCHR) recently announced its Sailors of the Quarter.
Training Support Center Hampton Roads (TSCHR) recently announced its Sailors of the Quarter.

The awardees included Information System Technician 1st Class Eboni McMillan, Sailor of the Quarter (SOQ); Quartermaster 2nd Class Christopher Eley, Junior Sailor of the Quarter (JSOQ); and Logistics Specialist 3rd Class Jamil Brassier, Bluejacket of the Quarter (BJOQ).

McMillan has been the leading petty officer for the TSCHR IT directorate for nearly a year. Additionally, she is a Sexual Assault Prevention and Response (SAPR) victim advocate and provided 336 hours of assistance to more than 120 students and over 100 staff members in need of sexual assault victim assistance.

"IT1 McMillan is highly involved in every major evolution around TSCHR," said Command Master Chief Keith Webb. "She mentors, motivates, and is engaged with every level of leadership at the command. She is instrumental in the enforcement of DoD (Department of Defense) Cyber Defense Policy, and her professional attitude and devotion to the SAPR program is essential to the members in need of victim assistance. She is a true professional with a genuine concern for the growth of her junior Sailors, and I cannot think of a finer shipmate to represent TSCHR as our SOQ."

"I'd like to thank my family for their love, support, and motivation," said McMillan. "My husband definitely motivates me since he is also an IT1. We are trying to be better for one another. I set the bar very high for myself and for my junior Sailors to emulate, because being stagnant does not help to make a difference."

Prior to reporting to TSCHR, Eley was named 2016 Sailor of the Year. He is currently assigned to the Career Counselor's Office where conducted eight reenlistments, two retirements, 12 Career Waypoint applications, and 10 student reclassifications. He also acted as assistant public affairs officer and departmental Morale, Welfare and Recreation representative.

"When I found out I was named JSOQ, I felt very proud and honored," said Eley. "This is excellent recognition for the hard work and effort I've been doing. I put forth my best effort forward each and every day, and this has allowed me to stand out amongst the stiff competition; all candidates were excellent."

Brassier is a purchasing agent for the supply department. As a top producing agent, he processed over 300 printing requests in excess of $80,000, as well as the delivery of 3,000 high-priority items to 33 learning sites.

"This is my first time receiving the bluejacket award, and I was really happy when I found out that I was selected," said Brassier. "I always see my language as a professional barrier since my primary language is French. This award proves to me that I should always try hard instead of putting myself down."

Brassier is currently working on a bachelor's degree in logistics management.
