Training Support Center (TSC) Great Lakes awarded its selections of Senior Sailor of the Quarter (SSOQ), Junior Sailor of the Quarter (JSOQ), and Instructor of the Quarter (IOQ), for the first quarter during a ceremony, Feb. 23.

The SOQs include Navy Military Training Instructor (NMTI) Personnel Specialist 1st Class Hellen Streeter, selected as senior; and Religious Program Specialist 2nd Class Kory Hill, selected as junior, and NMTI Logistics Specialist 1st Class Laurie Motley was named IOQ.

"Having just become the command master chief of TSC Great Lakes not too long ago, I can tell you the staff has impressed me beyond what I could have imagined," TSC Command Master Chief Randy Reid said. "Those that are being recognized today are at the top of their game. Their achievements and examples of professionalism in training our Navy's future are inspiring."

Streeter provides the highest-quality training and mentorship to more than 250 apprentice-level Sailors, reinforcing the Navy's core values and leadership skills. Her outstanding efforts were instrumental in the mentorship of 38 restricted personnel, which led to an 89 percent rehabilitation rate and directly enhanced Sailor readiness before reporting to the fleet.

"It is an honor being recognized for my dedication and hard work that I put in to train Sailors," she said. "My goal at TSC is to mentor as many Sailors as possible, knowing that the success of our Sailors drives the success of our Navy."

While serving as leading petty officer (LPO) for the chaplain department, Hill provided outstanding intervention training to more than 500 apprentice-level Sailors. His outstanding efforts directly provided students the tools needed to combat sexual assault and enhance Sailor readiness before reporting to fleet assignments. Hill was instrumental in the successful mentorship and guidance of eight student assistants and 40 BlueJacket Choir members. His actions directly contributed to students learning firsthand the meaning of teamwork, dedication to duty, and attention to detail. Additionally, as the Holiday Party vice president, he contributed to raising more than $10,000 for the successful command Holiday Party, directly improving morale for all.

"The Sailors working at TSC are all top caliber," he said. "We all represent different departments that train and mentor Sailors so they have a wealth of experience in various disciplines. We care deeply about what we do, and work to ensure a lasting positive impact is left on the Sailors coming through TSC."

Motley, a LPO for student indoctrination, displaying exceptional leadership and unsurpassed dedication, led 24 staff members in providing quality training and mentorship to more than 1,200 students. Her tireless efforts contributed to students learning firsthand the meaning of teamwork, dedication to duty, and attention to detail. Additionally, she selflessly volunteered to mentor at-risk students at Forrestal Elementary School, greatly improving academic and behavior performance for all students in attendance.

"Our students are the future of the Navy," said Motley. "Passing on our knowledge through our experiences makes us all stronger. Also, relaying our personal and professional trials to the students helps them in making the right choices and persevering."
