Lt. Gen. Thomas Bergeson, commander, U.S. 7th Air Force, visited guided-missile cruiser USS Shiloh (CG 67), Feb. 23.

During his visit, Bergeson met with Rear Adm. Charles Williams, commander, Task Force (CTF) 70, and Capt. Adam Aycock, commanding officer of Shiloh.

The visiting 7th Air Force leaders watched a training evolution in Shiloh's combat information center (CIC) to get a better understanding of the special skills and equipment needed to operate a ballistic missile defense (BMD)-capable ship.

Leaders asked about the daily life for Sailors underway while maintaining the BMD watch.

"Shiloh was underway for a 53 continuous-day period in 2016," said Aycock. "We had three types of mail during that time -- repair parts, personal packages, and ice cream. With those, Shiloh can stand the BMD watch at sea for long periods."

Shiloh hosted the group to give senior leaders a better understanding of its operational capabilities. The visit also helped strengthen the joint partnership in BMD-capable commands in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations.

Shiloh is forward deployed to Yokosuka, Japan, in support of security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
