Vicki Miller, Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton command chaplain executive assistant and Navy community service program coordinator, was honored as the 2017 Woman of the Year for the California 76th Assembly District in a ceremony at the state capitol March 6.

Miller received the award from Assemblyman Rocky Chavez (R-Oceanside), a retired Marine colonel and former Oceanside City Council member, who represents the 76th Assembly District, covering Camp Pendleton, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Oceanside and Vista.

"I am honored to present Vicki Miller as the 2017, 76th Assembly District Woman of the Year. Vicki is the Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton Community Services Programs manager, the founder of the Oceanside Red Hat Society and coordinates outings for the local Hospital Hatters," said Chavez. "Vicki is one of the most dedicated and distinguished philanthropists in the 76th District and I know this community is better served because of her leadership."

Miller is the fifth woman of the year for this district and was recognized for her outstanding hard work and dedication in the community, with veterans and active-duty military and their families and at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton where she has worked in Pastoral Care since 1990.

"I am honored to not only be representing District 76 as 2017 Woman of the Year, but Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton as well," said Miller. "I am blessed with many friends and a great support network. No matter what the need or cause may be, I do my best to assist people using the resources that I have, so it feels wonderful to be recognized for simply doing my job."
