Three top Sailors were named Training Support Center Hampton Roads (TSCHR) Sailor of the Quarter (SOQ), Junior Sailor of the Quarter (JSOQ) and Bluejacket of the Quarter (BJOQ) Sept. 22, announced by Command Master Chief Keith Webb at an all-hands call.

The three winners were Operations Specialist 1st Class Lisa Landrum, SOQ; Electronics Technician 2nd Class Ashley Mack, JSOQ; and Yeoman 3rd Class Jasmine Hawkins, BJOQ.

"I feel very happy my chain of command thought highly enough to nominate me," said Landrum. "This is the first time I've been named SOQ and I was shocked and very grateful to my department for helping me prepare for the question-and-answer board."

"I have six years in the Navy and I am honored to be selected," Mack said. "I will continue to strive for excellence and motivate my peers to do the same."

Hawkins said, "I am thrilled to be the one nominated and chosen for Training Support Center [Hampton Roads] Blue Jacket of the Quarter."

After the nominees are selected by their respective departments, a package is submitted to the command master chief, and a selection board is held. The nominees are then notified they are in the running. They then participate in a question-and-answer session held by selection board members.

"The overall process from nomination to selection was very competitive; the board looks at the nominees' overall performance, education, speaking ability, community involvement, evaluations, etc.," said Webb. "Bottom line -- we select the top performers from each department."

TSCHR provides student management, quota control, and professional development for nearly 80,000 Sailors, Marines, Soldiers and Airmen from the U.S. armed forces, and 23 allied nations each year.
