Chief of Naval Personnel Awarded Meritorious Unit Commendation

Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) awarded the Meritorious Unit Commendation (MUC) to the Chief of Naval Personnel (CNP), Sept. 27 during an all hands call held at Naval Support Facility Arlington.
Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) awarded the Meritorious Unit Commendation (MUC) to the Chief of Naval Personnel (CNP), Sept. 27 during an all hands call held at Naval Support Facility Arlington.

The command was presented the MUC for its work on Sailor 2025 initiatives, which covers such programs as the Fleet Scholar Education Program, Secretary of the Navy Tours with Industry, and other ongoing talent management efforts. The command was also rewarded for managing the fleet's efforts and developments in diversity, Sexual Assault Prevention and Response (SAPR), as well as updates to the physical readiness program.

CNO noted the dedication to service exhibited by Chief of Naval Personnel Sailors and civilians during his comments to over 200 personnel in attendance at the all hands call. Capt. Janet Bristol, Branch Head for Uniform Policy and Emerging Issues, accepted the award on behalf of Sailors at the command.

"What an honor to have CNO present N1 with a MUC," said Bristol. "CNO recognized the great work that the dedicated total force team of Manpower, Personnel, Training and Education domain has been doing. It was hard earned and very well deserved by all."

CNO recognized the work of civilian personnel, and said their duties help make personnel initiatives a success in the Navy. CNO specifically highlighted the achievements of the Meritorious Advancement Program which allows commanding officer's to advance their top performing Sailors. Tom Ryan, Acting Deputy Director, Navy Selection & Classification, also accepted the award on behalf of Navy civilians in attendance.

"This award represents the culmination of our hard work and efforts to build and strengthen our Navy Team, which includes Sailors, Navy Civilians and our families, to face any challenges presented, "said Ryan. "We are devoted to our Sailors and accept the higher standards and expectations placed on our organization as a result of this award. I believe this commendation will only further motivate us to strive for excellence in shaping our Navy for the future."

N1 service members are authorized to wear the ribbon for service from August 2013 to May 2016.
