Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Fleet Logistics Center (FLC) Bahrain held a change of command ceremony at Naval Support Activity (NSA) Bahrain, on Sept. 27, 2016.

Capt. Kerry L. Pearson relieved Capt. Sean M. Egge as commanding officer of NAVSUP FLC Bahrain.

Capt. Raymond Bichard, Chief of Staff, NAVSUP Global Logistics Support (GLS), presided over the ceremony and shared his thoughts on the importance the command and the region play on the world stage.

"Today's ceremony is more than the formal transition of command and authority. It is also a time to reflect on the hard work and achievements of this command, and if any of our Fleet Logistics Centers are a demonstration of our relevance to the warfighters, it's FLC Bahrain. You can't open a newspaper, turn on the news or access the Internet without seeing the crucial challenges in this AOR playing out on the world stage," said Bichard.

Bichard addressed Egge saying, "Sean, you have served with honor and distinction and have led NAVSUP FLC Bahrain and its personnel to the highest heights of service. To the Sailors, Marines, Coast Guardsmen, Joint and Allied customers, and their families, your extraordinary efforts ensured FLC Bahrain was able to support the mission - whatever the tasking, no matter the challenge. Extremely well done, my friend; I salute you and your magnificent performance as a superb Naval Officer and leader."

Bahraini Grade and civil service personnel make up the majority of the workforce at FLC Bahrain. Egge recognized them saying, "To my Bahraini Grade workforce shipmates, you truly are our continuity here. You've been a part of this NAVSUP organization for decades, and you continue to provide that amazing customer service and mission accomplishment without fail. You are the foundation of our operation and our success."

He continued, "Civil service personnel, I recognize this is a very challenging place to accept orders to. But I thank you all, and the many GS personnel that have served here before will also agree, the reward and job satisfaction are second to none. The mission is real, we are always on, and daily you are able to see the results of your exceptional efforts."

Pearson takes the reins as the third commanding officer since the command was officially established on Aug. 27, 2013, becoming the newest NAVSUP FLC to join the NAVSUP GLS worldwide network.

Pearson, a native of Oxford, Miss., previously served as 1 of 12 CNO Senior Fellows at CNO Strategic Studies Group #35, Newport, R.I.

"I look forward to supporting the Navy, 5th Fleet, the war fighter and most importantly FLC Bahrain and YOU!" said Pearson.

NAVSUP FLC Bahrain has more than 160 military and civilian personnel providing logistics support in the region. The command is one of eight FLCs worldwide in the NAVSUP Global Logistics Support (GLS) Enterprise.

NAVSUP GLS provides global logistics for a global Navy. The organization is made up of more than 6,500 military and civilian logistics professionals operating from 105 locations worldwide, providing an extensive array of integrated global logistics and contracting services to Navy, Marine Corps, joint operational units, and allied forces across all warfare enterprises.
