Naval Supply Systems Command Fleet Logistics Center (NAVSUP FLC) Norfolk recognized its Work Team of the Quarter during an awards ceremony at Naval Station Norfolk, Nov. 15.

Commanding Officer Capt. Jack Moreau presented the subsistence prime vendor (SPV) team with the award in recognition of their logistics support to more than 80 ships during the previous quarter.

"We are extremely proud of our logistics support representatives (LSRs) because of their consistent commitment to provide the quality of customer service and logistics planning that ensures mission readiness for our fleet," said Barbara Robinson, acting deputy logistics support officer.

She added during the last quarter, the team processed more than 2,100 orders totaling more than $15 million, with subsistence-in-kind savings of more than $100,000 and 600 man hours, helping ships remain within their budgets. They also coordinated and processed more than 41,000 cases of provisions for ships for replenishment-at-sea deliveries.

"The expertise LSRs bring to the customer often alleviates multiple stresses and concerns felt by the fleet when trying to complete their missions," she added. "LSRs represent a stable and experienced source of support, with the ability to work with many other divisions and commands to ensure our customers receive the materials and provisions they need to execute missions efficiently and on-time."

The SPV team also provided crucial support during the Hurricane Matthew sortie, seamlessly coordinating the delivery schedule with multiple vendors despite minute-by-minute changes in operational schedule. They supported visiting ships during the hurricane sortie including amphibious transport dock USS John P. Murtha (LPD 26), amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7), guided-missile destroyer USS The Sullivans (DDG 58), littoral combat ship USS Montgomery (LCS 8), and guided-missile cruisers USS Hue City (CG 68) and USS Philippine Sea (CG 58).

They were also instrumental in the success of Maryland Fleet Week and Air Show Baltimore festivities, which included the commissioning of USS Zumwalt (DDG 1000), providing support for Zumwalt during port visits leading up to the commissioning.
