A program assistant for the Navy Advancement Center (NAC) was honored as the Naval Education and Training Professional Development Center (NETPDC) Civilian of the Quarter for the fourth quarter 2016 at an all-hands ceremony, Nov. 17.

Almando Moye received the award for his outstanding work in the NAC's Exam Ordering and Discrepancies Branch, including his assistance with completing the latest active and Reserve advancement cycles ahead of schedule.

"Being chosen as COQ came as a total surprise to me," said Moye. "It was truly an honor to be recognized in that manner, but I thank the team -- everyone I work with in the advancement center has played a huge role in my development since I've come on board."

Jay Gulley, Moye's supervisor, noted his efforts were crucial to the timely processing of more than 117,000 exam answer sheets during this quarter.

"Two key examples of his forward thinking include the incorporation of a more efficient, candidate error processing software tool and providing critical technical assistance to overcome software issues," said Gulley. "His efforts significantly improved overall scan center production and mission effectiveness."

At the award ceremony, NETPDC Commanding Officer, Capt. Lee Newton said he is constantly reminded of how his dedicated and talented civilian staff has a profound effect on the Navy.

"Mr. Moye is a tangible example of how important having the right people in the right place is critical to the advancement process," said Newton. "Our Sailors are depending on us to deliver a fair, responsive, and timely enlisted advancement system."

NETPDC's mission is to provide products and services which enable and enhance education, training, career development, and personnel advancement throughout the Navy. Primary elements of the command include the Voluntary Education Department, the Navy Advancement Center, and the Resources Management Department.
