Navy lodging leaders and team players recognized the "best of the best" during awards ceremonies held throughout the shore enterprise on Navy Lodging Appreciation Day, Nov. 16.

Through the Navy Installations Command (NIC) lodging program, operations and personnel are recognized with awards -- the Admiral Elmo R. Zumwalt Award for Excellence in Lodging Management, Navy Lodging Accreditation Award, and Employee Recognition Program awards.

"Through program standardization, leadership, training, and services, our lodging professionals have brought about a significant change to the Navy's lodging experience," said Tamara Davis, NIC lodging program director. "Navy Gateway Inns & Suites, Navy & Marine Corps Fisher House, and Navy Getaways demonstrate the right way to take care of our Navy family."

The Admiral Elmo R. Zumwalt Award for Excellence in Lodging Management recognizes operations which exceed standards in customer service, financial management, operations, facilities, and the overall success of the Navy lodging service. The operations which meet the Department of Defense and the Department of Navy lodging standards are awarded with the Navy Lodging Accreditation Award.

"The accreditation program ensures consistent superior management in all functional areas at every Navy Gateway Inns & Suites and Navy & Marine Corps Fisher House lodging operations," said Davis. "Performance is measured based on operational and program standards."

The Employee Recognition Program recognizes individual professional accomplishments for demonstrating personal initiative, leadership, and making noteworthy contributions to the program through Navy Gateway Inns & Suites, Navy & Marine Corps Fisher House, and Navy Getaways. In addition, the program recognizes employees with a Stellar Service Award. The award considers all lodging employees in all departments.

"Each one of the lodging professionals' dedication is the tie that binds -- the common thread across the entire enterprise at each of our lodging facilities," said Davis. "We have teams who are empowered to succeed, and they should be very proud of the achievements and success."
