The Sea Warrior Program (PMW 240, PEO EIS) held a change of charge and retirement ceremony at the Women in Military Service for America Memorial in Arlington, Virginia, March 14.

Patrick Fitzgerald relieved Laura Knight as the program manager for PMW 240.

"Looking back on the five years I spent with the Sea Warrior Program, I am proud of what we accomplished," said Knight. "What we do in Sea Warrior makes a huge impact on the Navy Sailors every day, and I hope that Patrick and the team will be afforded the opportunity to continue what we've started and add many more great accomplishments to the list."

Knight received the Superior Civilian Service Award. The citation recognized her excellence in small business accomplishments, new program starts, outstanding resource management, personnel development and retention, and overall superior performance in bringing Navy and Defense Business System supplies and services to the Sailor and the fleet.

Knight's retirement caps off more than 32 years of service to the government. Her career spanned both coasts, included both Navy and Joint programs, and transitioned her from mentee to mentor.

"From my first day to today," said Knight, "I have never doubted my decision to become a Navy professional. I am so happy I decided on this path and am ending my career with my final tour at Sea Warrior. I cannot think of anything that would be more rewarding."

In his remarks upon assuming command, Fitzgerald spoke about the future of the organization.

"I am excited about working for this team, our customers and partners to continue Sea Warrior's legacy," he said. "As we look to the future, we will continue to build upon this amazing foundation to deliver world-class services to our Sailors and the larger DON community."

PMW 240 manages a complex portfolio of information technology systems to support Navy human resource management, mobile apps, criminal justice, fleet support, afloat business applications, Navy and Department of Defense portfolio management, Department of the Navy administration, and joint aviation aircraft scheduling. The Sea Warrior portfolio includes support or development of 32 systems, 28 initiatives, and 13 applications, and its systems are deployed on 169 ships and 70 submarines.
