Six explosive ordnance disposal technicians assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit 2 received Bronze Star Medals during an awards ceremony at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story in Virginia Beach, April 8.

The EOD technicians received the awards for service while assigned to Special Operations Task Force - Iraq (SOTF-I) and U.S. Central Command.

"I'm incredibly proud of these Sailors," said Capt. John Moulton, commander, EOD Group 2. "What they were able to accomplish helped our senior leaders better understand the changing nature of the fight in Iraq."

The team conducted a series of operations in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, supporting an overall mission to disrupt and defeat Daesh.

"The Bronze Star is a level of award that makes you feel as though you still have work to do to be worthy of it," said Lt. Daniel Glenn, the SOTF-I EOD platoon commander. "Although I know what my team and I did, it's the kind of honor you remain feeling unworthy of. I couldn't be more proud of my team; they put their lives at risk for the sake of the mission."

The Bronze Star Medal is awarded to an individual who, while serving in or with the military of the United States, distinguishes himself or herself by heroic or meritorious achievement while engaged in an action against an enemy of the United States or while engaged in military operations involving conflict with an opposing foreign force.

EODMU2 provides operational explosive ordnance disposal capability for the location, identification, rendering safe, recovery, field evaluation and disposal of all explosive ordnance, including chemical and nuclear weapons, and is headquartered at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek.
