Rear Adm. Jonathan Yuen, Commander, Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) and chief of the Supply Corps, appointed Lt. Cmdr. Warren Lynch, Royal Australian Navy, as an Honorary U.S. Supply Corps officer during a ceremony April 13 at Naval Station Mayport.

Lynch is serving as NAVSUP Fleet Logistics Center Jacksonville's logistics support officer, and leads the Logistics Support Center at Naval Station Mayport.

"Your work at NAVSUP FLC Jacksonville has shown true dedication to NAVSUP and the U.S. Navy," said Yuen. "You have earned this appointment and I am proud to recognize you as an honorary Supply Corps officer of the United States Navy."

The appointment is a direct result of Lynch's exceptional efforts associated with the deployment of USS George Washington (CVN 73) Strike Group to the 4th Fleet area of responsibility. Lynch led significant planning efforts and enabled execution of logistics plans for the George Washington strike group during participation in UNITAS exercise events.

Advocating U.S. Navy interests in Panama, Chile, and Brazil, Lynch spent six weeks abroad navigating the complexities of various customs agencies and local logistics infrastructures. He was responsible for the timely clearing of customs and delivery of 17 prepositioned shipping containers holding $3 million in subsistence, as well as 450 high priority requisitions worth $9 million.

Lynch received his appointment in the office of 4th Fleet Commander, Rear Adm. George Ballance.

"His performance was flawless and instrumental in the successful logistics support of the strike group," said Ballance.

"I am truly honored to be recognized for my contributions to UNITAS 2015 and induction as an honorary U.S. Navy Supply Corps officer," said Lynch after receiving the appointment. "Serving NAVSUP FLC Jacksonville as a part of the Personnel Exchange Program has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my Naval career. I look forward in continuing the close bonds and traditions between the Royal Australian Navy and U. S. Navy,"

Also in attendance were Rear Adm. James McNeal, Commander, NAVSUP Global Logistics Support and Capt. Re Bynum, commanding officer, NAVSUP Fleet Logistics Center Jacksonville, to offer their congratulations for this prestigious appointment.
