A Navy Expeditionary Combat Command Sailor has been invited to try out for the All-Navy Women's Bowling Team at the All-Armed Forces competition in May.

Personnel Specialist 1st Class Ashley Gray, of Maple Heights, Ohio, has been preparing herself to take part in the bowling competition at Travis Air Force Base in California from May 7-14 to earn her spot on the team that will allow her to compete in the All-Armed Forces tournament.

"Being able to represent my command through All-Navy Sports is so rewarding," said Gray. "I used to tell people that it's not always what you can do for the Navy, but what the Navy can do for you."

Gray added, during her military career the Navy has been able to provide her the opportunity to play sports at a competitive level while still serving her country. While she is passionate about bowling, she also participated on the All-Navy Women's Softball Team in 2014.

"It's not even a job when you love what you do," added Gray, who recently participated in a Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story bowling competition, April 13, to bring awareness to the Navy Marine Corps Relief Society Active-duty fund drive.

"Being able to do something I love and bring awareness to a great cause like NMCRS couldn't get any better," said Gray, who came in second place during the basewide competition.

While Gray finished in second place, she is looking forward to striking multiple "10's" when she tries out for the All-Navy Women's Bowling Team.
