Commander, Amphibious Squadron (CPR) 3 assumed immediate superior in command responsibilities for dock landing ship USS Pearl Harbor (LSD 52), May 9.

The CPR 3 staff worked with Expeditionary Strike Group 3, Pearl Harbor and CPR 5 for several months to ensure an effective turnover.

In the upcoming months, Pearl Harbor will conduct several training and certification events to confirm the ship's ability to perform safe and effective operations during real world operations at sea.

"As a prior commanding officer of Pearl Harbor, I am looking forward to working with her crew once again," said Capt. Homer R. Denius, commodore, CPR 3. "Pearl Harbor has a demanding schedule ahead of them, but we will work together to successfully accomplish our mission."

Cmdr. Judd Krier, commanding officer of Pearl Harbor, said he looks forward to the upcoming opportunities for the ship's crew to work alongside the staff of CPR 3.

"The Pearl Harbor crew and I are very excited to join the team at Amphibious Squadron 3," said Krier. "We bring with us the most modern and updated LSD on the San Diego waterfront. I am very proud of all the hard work the crew has accomplished to make this possible."

As ISIC to seven ships, CPR 3 oversees the tactical proficiency, administrative support and material readiness of its ships, ensuring they are combat-ready and prepared to answer the nation's call.
