Chief of Navy Reserve Vice Adm. Robin Braun visited with Sailors forward deployed to Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, May 26-28.

Braun's visit with Reserve forces addressed concerns impacting service members in the area of responsibility. Her trip allowed Navy officers, senior enlisted leaders and junior Sailors the opportunity to engage in dialogue and learn of new improvements for all Selected Reserve.

During an all hands call consisting of Sailors E-6 and below, Braun addressed the future direction of the force, which included readiness, information technology and leadership.

"We all know the importance of readiness." Braun said, "Our goal is to make processes and systems more streamlined to help with that."

According to Braun, new technologies are also in the works to make Navy websites more accessible to Navy Reserve Sailors. One example is the Ready to Serve Mobile App.

The application allows the user to access Navy CAC-required websites from their personal mobile device.

Camp Lemonnier Commanding Officer Capt. Geof T. Colpitts guided Braun in a base tour highlighting many of the improvements made to CLDJ's infrastructure and amenities, including the new E-6 barracks.

"The camp has come a long way since 2013 when I last visited. This is great," Braun said as she was guided through the E-6 living spaces.

The barracks opened its doors in April 2015 and features double occupancy rooms with a shared bathroom.

Braun addressed the future of Camp Lemmonier and reinforced the importance of the Reserve components' mission today and in years to come.

"I feel we all play a part in making this a better Navy, better Navy Reserve, and a better camp," Braun said.

Camp Lemonnier enables the forward operations and responsiveness of U.S. and allied forces in support of Navy Region Europe, Africa, Southwest Asia's mission to provide services to the fleet, fighter and family.
