The guided-missile destroyer USS Gravely (DDG 107) arrived in Split, Croatia, for a scheduled port visit June 23, to enhance U.S./Croatia relations as the nations work together for a stable, secure and prosperous Europe.

USS Gravely's presence in the region is a demonstration of the continued commitment to the collective security of NATO under Operation Atlantic Resolve.

"We have heard so many great things about Split form the ships that have been there," said Cmdr. Justin Hodges, Gravely's executive officer. "The crew is looking forward to some well-earned liberty while building relationships with the local community."

While in port, Sailors will have a chance to enjoy the landscape and some of the local culture.

"I'm really excited to be out and about in Croatia," said Culinary Specialist 3rd Class Gerald Palmer. "I'll definitely be going on the hiking tour offered by Morale, Welfare and Recreation committee, I'm also happy to participate in any community relations projects that will be offered to us."
