US Fleet Cyber Command/US 10th Fleet Celebrate LGBT Pride Month

"Observing these events, and this one in particular, lets people know that we as an armed force have made strides in the most positive way imaginable; however, there is still more to be done," said Legalman 1st Class Victor Rolling, Multicultural Awareness Committee co-lead. "We have to be cognizant of the way that we treat each other, and be the change that we want to see in the world, which starts from within."

On June 1, 2009, President Barack Obama issued Proclamation No. 8387 for LGBT Pride Month. The president pointed to the contributions made by LGBT Americans both in promoting equal rights to all regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.

The Department of Defense officially recognized Pride Month for the armed forces May 13, 2014, to highlight the contributions of LGBT military and LGBT civilian members.

U.S. Fleet Cyber Command serves as the Navy component command to U.S. Strategic Command and U.S. Cyber Command, and the Navy's Service Cryptologic Component commander under the National Security Agency/Central Security Service. Fleet Cyber Command also reports directly to the Chief of Naval Operations as an echelon II command.

U.S. 10th Fleet is the operational arm of Fleet Cyber Command and executes its mission through a task force structure.
