NAVFAC Southwest Awards Contract for Environmental Compliance Support Services

Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Southwest awarded a $95 million small business contract June 23, for architectural-engineering multimedia environmental compliance (MMEC) services at Navy and Marine Corps installations.
Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Southwest awarded a $95 million small business contract June 23, for architectural-engineering multimedia environmental compliance (MMEC) services at Navy and Marine Corps installations.

"This contract helps NAVFAC Southwest project managers support all the environmental compliance requirements at installations and special areas to meet all environmental compliance regulations to support the warfighter effort," said Rob Campbell, NAVFAC Southwest contracting officer's representative.

The awardee of the contract is a MMEC group and joint venture of KMEA and Amec Foster Wheeler with sub-consultants M.S. Hatch Consulting, AECOM, and CH2M Hill.

The MMEC group will provide studies, surveys, and engineering services to support multimedia environmental compliance and environmental media areas aligned with the Navy's environmental compliance program. These services are air quality, water quality, potable water, wastewater, groundwater, storm water, sustainability, asbestos, mapping, permitting, training, sediment, landfills, risk assessment, feasibility studies, cost estimating, community relations, pollution prevention, base comprehensive planning, hazardous waste management, solid waste management, hazardous materials management, emergency management systems, pesticide management, pilot and treatability studies, lead-based paint and lead hazards, technology demonstration, optimization of treatment and control systems, design and value engineering, and emerging contaminants.

The geographical coverage of the contract is for Navy and Marine Corps installations in California, Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and other Department of Defense installations in the United States.

The contract has a five-year period of performance and will be completed by the summer of 2021.
