Naval Supply Systems Command Fleet Logistics Center Jacksonville welcomed aboard new Executive Director Kevin Mooney, July 25.

Mooney is the third person to hold the executive director position since the position was created in 2000.

As NAVSUP FLC Jacksonville's executive director, Mooney is the senior civilian adviser to the commanding officer, responsible for strategic planning, organizational resource performance, and business growth.

Mooney comes to NAVSUP FLC Jacksonville from the Southeast Regional Maintenance Center at Naval Station Mayport, Florida, where he served as corporate operations officer, but he is not new to being an executive director.

Prior to his time at SERMC Mooney was the executive director at Commander, Navy Region Europe, Africa, Southwest Asia, where he was responsible for program operations and fiscal policy governing base operations support to 13 naval installations spanning three continents.

"I'm looking forward to the turnover and I'm happy to be back with the Supply community," said Mooney. "That's where my Navy roots began."

Mooney has a Master of Management from Naval Post-Graduate School and a bachelor's degree in economics from Saint Edwards University in Austin, Texas.

Mitchell Palmquist, who has been executive director at NAVSUP FLC Jacksonville since 2011, will be retiring from federal service Sept. 30 after 47 years of service.
