Normandy Holds Change of Command

Trinque graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science in political science. He holds master's degrees in international business from the University of Maryland, as well as a graduate degree in national security and strategic studies from the U.S. Naval War College.

Trinque's sea duty assignments include command of USS O'Kane (DDG 77), Coastal Minehunter Crew Valor - to include command of USS Osprey (MHC 51), USS Cardinal (MHC 60), USS Shrike (MHC 62) and USS Robin (MHC 54) - and Coastal Minehunter Crew Excel - to include USS Pelican (MHC 53). He served as operations officer on board Normandy and USS Cole (DDG 67), and as division officer for the weapons, operations and engineering departments on board USS Philippine Sea (CG 58).

Ashore, Trinque served on the staff for the chief of naval operations as branch head for Integrated Air and Missile Defense in the Surface Warfare Directorate (OPNAV N96), and on the staff of the joint chiefs in the Strategic Plans and Policy Directorate (J5) as the branch head for ballistic missile defense policy. He completed a tour as a surface warfare assignments officer at Navy Personnel Command, Millington, Tennessee. His first shore tour was as a seamanship and navigation instructor at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, where he also qualified as officer-in-charge of the academy's 108-foot yard patrol training craft.

Robertson will be assuming command of Surface Warfare Officers School in Newport, Rhode Island. During Robertson's two-year tour, USS Normandy successfully completed pre-deployment work-ups, implemented Naval Integrated Fire Control-Counter Air in the fleet, and executed a nine-month deployment as air and missile defense commander for the USS Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group.

Under the command of Robertson, the Normandy crew was awarded the CSG-12 Battle "E" and Unit Tactics Award, the CNO Afloat Safety Award for CY2015, United States Fleet Force's Retention Excellence Award, the Navy's nomination for the Secretary of Defense's Maintenance Award for medium commands, and Commander, Naval Surface Force Atlantic's Battenberg Cup nomination.

Normandy is a Ticonderoga class cruiser based out of Norfolk, Virginia. It is one of the Navy's premier air defense assets and is currently undergoing maintenance at BAE Systems Norfolk Ship Repair.
