Naval Supply Systems Command Fleet Logistics Center (NAVSUP FLC) Bahrain hosted a team visit led by NAVSUP Assistant Commander for Contracting Mark Bennington, Senior Executive Service (SES), June 26-28.

The visit took place one year after FLC Bahrain stood up as an independent Command Contracting Office (CCO), June 16, 2015.

The visit showcased the good work accomplished by FLC Bahrain's Code 200 departmental personnel, and highlighted the unique contracting challenges they face in the midst of an extremely high operations tempo environment in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility (AOR).

"I was glad that the NAVSUP team got a real appreciation of the work that the Code 200 team performs on a daily basis in this environment," said Cmdr. James Gayton, director of contracts, NAVSUP FLC Bahrain. "I sat with Mr. Bennington when he visited all of our major customers, and was really proud of our team when each customer gave glowing reviews of our work."

"They talked about how responsive our Code 200 organization is to their mission. We really excelled!" said Gayton.

"This is the busiest AOR in the NAVSUP enterprise ... across the spectrum of shore support, husbanding service, ship repair, and policy, our Code 200 team has consistently added value to our operational customers and their ability to fight forward," said Capt. Sean Egge, commanding officer, NAVSUP FLC Bahrain. "Their successes over the last year are truly remarkable."

The team visit wasn't all work and no play, though. During the three-day visit, Bennington and his team sampled a taste of local culture by participating in an Iftar dinner at a local hotel.

"The Iftar was an opportunity to gather together and experience a local tradition during the holy month of Ramadan," said the event host, Lt. David Kelts, NAVSUP FLC Bahrain.

NAVSUP FLC Bahrain has more than 160 military and civilian personnel providing logistics support in the region. The command is one of eight FLCs worldwide in the NAVSUP Global Logistics Support (GLS) Enterprise.

NAVSUP GLS provides global logistics for a global Navy. The organization is made up of more than 6,500 military and civilian logistics professionals operating from 105 locations worldwide, providing an extensive array of integrated global logistics and contracting services to Navy, Marine Corps, joint operational units, and allied forces across all warfare enterprises.
