NAVEUR-NAVAF Welcomes New Fleet Master Chief

Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Africa (NAVEUR-NAVAF) welcomed a new fleet master chief at Naval Support Activity, Naples Aug. 4.

Command Master Chief Raymond D. Kemp Sr. relieved Fleet Master Chief Steven S. Giordano, who was recently selected to become the 14th Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy.

Throughout his career, Kemp has completed combat deployments in the 5th, 6th, and 7th Fleet areas of responsibilities and participated in Operations Sea Angel II, Southern Watch, Continue Hope, New Dawn, Desert Storm, Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.

Previous Sea duty assignments include aircraft carriers USS Independence (CV 62) and USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72), staff of Commander, Amphibious Group 1, and amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3).

Previous shore duty assignments include Naval Security Station Washington, D.C.; Tactical Support Center, San Diego; Commander, Naval Space Command Dahlgren, Virginia; OPNAV Communications Information Systems and Network (N6), Washington, D.C.

Previous command master chief tours include guided-missile destroyer USS Mason (DDG 87), USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75), and Navy Inspector General.

U.S. 6th Fleet, headquartered in Naples, Italy, conducts the full spectrum of joint and naval operations, often in concert with allied, joint, and interagency partners in order to advance U.S. national interests and security and stability in Europe and Africa.
