Awards ceremony? She set it up. Advancement exam? She made sure you were ready to take it. All hands message update about changes in policy? You guessed it, she sent that e-mail. Sharetta McGhee has a hand in nearly every administrative duty for Training Support Center (TSC) Great Lakes.

For all of the tasks she accomplishes, both in plain sight and behind the scenes, she was selected as the 2015 TSC Civilian of the Year.

"I feel humbled and very thankful for being recognized for the job I truly enjoy doing," said McGhee, a Rochester, New York, native who now lives in Kenosha, Wisconsin. "I love customer service and being able to interact with the staff and students here at TSC and give assistance or even a word of encouragement that can help someone complete their task is very rewarding. I'm very appreciative and glad to know that my contributions have not gone unnoticed."

McGhee is a management technician working in the administration department of TSC, a position she has held since retiring from the Navy in 2011.

"The people I work with and interact with here at the command always make me feel that I have something to contribute," McGhee said. "Helping others and working together as a team within an organization that is centered on developing the future Sailors of tomorrow is what I enjoy most about my job."

Praise for her hard work also comes from the command at TSC.

"On a daily basis, Ms. McGhee's dedication to meeting TSC's mission is evident," said Mike Bilak, TSC executive director. "Always available to complete short fused tasking, she can be relied upon to meet every deadline and complete every assignment ensuring that the command mission and support come first."
