A licensed clinical social worker assigned to Navy Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 11, based in Gulfport, Mississippi, was recognized as the Navy Expeditionary Combat Command's (NECC) civilian of the month for February.

"I am beyond honored to be recognized for doing a job I love as it is already a great privilege to be in position supporting and working with those who I have admiration for because of their service and sacrifice," said Nicole Mayzner, who is the primary embedded Mental Health Program provider assigned to NMCB 11.

NECC began the embedded Mental Health Program in 2010, which includes counseling support to warfighters, regular checkups, unit briefs and updates to key leaders. In Mayzner's support role to NMCB 11, she has also provided clinical support to Navy Construction Battalion 2 Seabee battalions.

With only 11 months at her command, Mayzner has significantly contributed to the Navy Expeditionary Combat Command mission through application of her skills as a licensed clinical social worker to ensure the psychological readiness of NECC warfighters and their families.

"She is the recognized expert for the force in how to engage NECC warfighters in resilience briefs," said Nancy Harned, executive director, NECC. "She is making substantial contributions to NECC readiness. Her hard work, professionalism, and superior knowledge contribute significantly to the NECC mission, and establish her as a critical member of the NECC team."

NECC is an enduring warfighting force providing sea-to-shore and inland operating environment capabilities across the full range of military operations, that is focused on delivering combat effective expeditionary forces ready for worldwide operations now and into the future.
