Navy Expeditionary Combat Command (NECC) announced its March Civilian of the Month in Virginia Beach, Feb. 29.

Eric Swenor, from Marquette, Michigan, was chosen as NECC Civilian of the Month for March for his contributions to manpower readiness for NECC forces.

Swenor is assigned to NECC's Manpower & Personnel (N1) team and serves as the subject-matter expert on Coastal Riverine Force manpower and unit structure.

"Eric's hard work, knowledge and expertise were instrumental in achieving progress on a number of key manpower programs and initiatives that contributed significantly to NECC Force readiness," said Nancy Harned, executive director, NECC.

Swenor, who retired from active duty in 2012, is a plank owner who helped to stand-up NECC as a Type Commander. In January, NECC commemorated the 10-year anniversary of its establishment. Swenor discussed receiving the accolade and his decision to continue to serve his nation.

"It was a very gratifying experience to be hired as civil service to NECC after being part of the establishment of NECC as plank owner in an active duty capacity." said Swenor. "It has been and continues to be a great honor to be a small part of this great command."

NECC is an enduring warfighting force providing sea-to-shore and inland operating environment capabilities across the full range of military operations that is focused on delivering combat effective expeditionary forces ready for worldwide operations now and into the future.
